Recycling Barrel Program

New in 2020!
The Elkhart County 4-H Fair Green Committee is offering an opportunity for Elkhart County 4-H Clubs to participate in a community service project by decorating 30-gallon recycling barrels to be used at events on the 4-H Fairgrounds. The barrels will become the property of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Board. Download the form below for more info on how to get involved.

Caps for Tables

The Elkhart County 4-H Fair Green Earth Day Committee is committed to sustainability and recycling. As part of that initiative, the committee began the project, "Caps for Benches" in 2015.

The Caps for Benches initiative was a youth driven collection of caps and lids that are processed and turned into 100% recycled benches. Since 2015, the Fair has recycled over 30,000 pounds of plastic and created over 90 100% recycled benches! In 2020, the initiative changed to focus on producing picnic tables for the Fairgrounds.

Those that wish to participate may drop off small quantities of CLEAN caps and lids at the collection bin in the Fair Office lobby. Those that wish to donate larger quantities should contact the Green Earth Day Director, Jan Robinson, at Elkhartcountygreenfair@gmail.com. Due to time and spacial requirements of the annual Fair, collection of bottle caps is paused during the month of July. Those that would like recognition for their collection should clearly mark each bag.
